The ideal number varies by word length and personal preference. A common rule of thumb is to bold roughly 40–50% of each word. The tool exposes this as the Fixation Strength slider — start at 2 and adjust until reading feels effortless. The Saccade Boost slider controls how much extra bolding longer words receive.
