Tips to play smarter
in every word game.
Whether you play Scrabble, Wordle, Words With Friends, or crosswords, these strategies help you get more from your letters.
🎲 Scrabble Strategy Tips
- Always check for 7-letter words first — they earn a 50-point bonus for using all tiles (a "bingo").
- High-value letters (Q, Z, X, J) are worth 8–10 points — use them on Triple Letter or Triple Word squares.
- Keep a balanced vowel-to-consonant ratio on your rack (ideally 2–3 vowels).
- Two-letter words (AA, AE, OE, etc.) are essential for parallel plays and tight board positions.
- Sort results by score and look for plays that also set up future moves.
💡 Wordle Tips
- Start with a word that contains common letters: CRANE, SLATE, AUDIO, or RAISE are popular openers.
- Use the "Contains" filter to find words that include a confirmed letter (yellow tile).
- Use "Starts With" and "Ends With" filters once you've confirmed positional letters (green tiles).
- Eliminate as many letters as possible in your first two guesses to narrow the solution space.
- Common 5-letter word endings: -TION, -ING, -ER, -LY, -ED, -EST.

Type a question mark (?) anywhere in your letters to represent a blank tile that can stand in for any letter of the alphabet. For example, entering STREA? will find words using S, T, R, E, A and any one extra letter. Multiple wildcards are supported.
